Well, in the end it was fairly simple - three boxes to tick with a choice of three Tories, two Labour, one UKIP and one Green, so it won't take a rocket scientist to work out how I voted.

Did the Remain campaign even have the option? Certainly not via the UK gutter press, or the BBC!

Don't know why you think the BBC wouldn't shove the Remain campaign, as they have done very little else since!

It's not occurred to me to find out @longk having spent 24 of the last 26 years living outside the EU jurisdiction.

Sir Stuart Rose couldn't run Marks and Sparks! With Cameron by his side it was even more doomed to failure!

Sort of, yes. One system manages a nation and all that goes with it (clearly the 400000 does not include public sector employees such as NHS, Police, armed forces etc.) whilst the other manages the cohesion of 28 nations, revenues from the same, EU grants to the same, translations, drafting of EU bills to present for voting at the behest of the EU parliament and the EU commission etc. So yes, different but no small task.

And in one simple sentence you have shattered the myth of insidious interference by the EU in all aspects of our lives that was so beloved of the leave campaign!

In the run up to any poll the Beeb has to remain impartial, it is in their mandate. After a poll the Beeb and their analysts can go back to reporting the truth and/or intelligent reasoned analysis.
In all fairness since the vote there has been very little good news for the leavers to crow about.

In all fairness, there hasn't been much good news for remainers to crow about either

The BBC is basically set up to preach at us, as constantly as they can, and whilst it may be in their mandate to remain impartial on the run up to a vote, they sure as hell haven't been ever since. Indeed, it could be reasonably argued that there has been something of a two year plus 'campaign' running to promote remain.

Regardless - as I said above - in, out, it makes not a lot of difference as it appears that politicians all over are the problem

You're right - we're getting dragged into the mess that the leavers created against our wishes!

Oooh err, it seems that you're only exposure to the Beeb comes via the Daily Wails reporting of it :sofa: :heehee:
Seriously though, why is it if the Beeb reports on job cuts, the fall of inwards investment, the fall of investment by small and medium business owners, the inability of parliament to come to a concensus, the possible criminal behaviour of the leave campaign etc its considered biased? These are just facts. Remainers complain of bias too. I think that it is bias when the Beeb gives proven liar and all round machievelian ahole Jacob Rees Mogg airtime. And that is the point - if everyone complains of bias they must be doing it right!

Another JRM fact. The company that he part owns and co founded specialises in, wait for it.................. overseas investment! He believes in the UK that much that he sends British money abroad!

 No, sadly my exposure to the BBC is predominantly in the morning, as there isn't much choice (I don't like Naga MunchyCrunchy, but Piers Morgan........ I will say no more), and their website during the day (not much else I can get at work to be honest) and that is about it. I don't particularly trust Sly Sky News, and the Daily Fail is generally a good giggle at best. The trouble is, the Guardian and Telegraph are about as balanced as a weeble, as are most other so called 'news' outlets. I think I am saying that I don't trust any of them really.

Looking at the results that have come in so far, it looks like my feelings are not isolated.

I have the same situation! There's the option of google news (other similar apps are available...) that give a wide range of news from many sources so I might begin to favour that as a more balanced option.

Main parties took a beating in the elections :)

Our local election results are in. Parish council didn't need electing with five seats and five candidates. District council, one seat and two candidates. 23% turnout :noidea: (I was the first to vote :)) and the incumbent got two thirds of the vote. The other candidate must have got his votes simply because of the party he represents. I haven't yet found anyone who has heard of him, there has been no printed policy from him (either hard copy or digital) and he doesn't even reveal what area he lives in - apart from saying he lives in the 130sq miles of the district. He certainly doesn't live in the parish he would be representing nor in the surrounding parishes!

Our results have just come in, we're still blue as expected but the independent chap was only 100 or so votes behind so a decent kick up the tory butt at any rate
