Err - point of order Mr. Chairman.

The death penalty, even for treason and piracy with violence (setting fire to HM Dockyards), was absolished in 1998 and, when the then Home Secretary (Jack Straw) signed the sixth protocol of the European Convention on Human Rights (in 1999) his doing so, formally abolished the death penalty in the UK ensuring it could not be re-instated.

In which case, I guess this chicken was just the victim of mindless violence!

      Thank you Madam Speaker,

I didn't know that. Has Sheal still got the death penalty ? Or have they abolished it there too ?

Some body should get a roasting for that, Fidgetsmum:D:heehee:

Nice try, but no cigar, Capney!:rolleyespink: From your left in the front row, disregarding the Flying Officer Engineering on the extreme left, the scruffy airman with his hands in his pockets and no overalls on is me. I had just turned eighteen, youngest member of the squadron, not long out of Apprenticeship. The cone at the front was my baby, Ferranti Radar, which wasn't too bad a radar considering the era. The photo was taken at the Missile Practice Camp at RAF Valley, Anglesey. where we got told off for shooting down the unmanned drogues {Jindiviks?] instead of the flares they were towing when testing the Firestreaks.:oopss:

I liked the Canberra it was a good aircraft and even the Yanks used it. I remember staging through Valletta and being in the forward servicing party waiting for the first 3 Lightnings to fly in. Nobody has seen the Lightnings abroad then so the word was out and most of the Valletta ground crew, pilots and the rest were all waiting for them to show up.
I remember one of them saying with a sniff "Huh, they ain't that fast, our Canberras will see them off, no problem. When our lot turned up they slid over the runway at just under Mach 1 and then banged on the reheat to do the stick back vertical climb from about 20' off the runway. There was a complete silence after that!!:D

I was always with Strike Command and that seemed to be the practice in the RAF, once you were in a Command you stayed there.

      Why should England tremble!!

I often find myself absolished, especially after a cheap bottle of Sainsbury's special.
