Caj the bigger the container the bigger they grow remember they are trees and are capable of growing 20-30ft (not that I will be growing them that size) some I have in 22" pots (hard work moving them) some are in 10" pots if they show promise I move them up a few sizes.

I would echo the fact of the bigger the pot the bigger they grow. I have noticed that for many plants. Sometimes a pot seems to restrict the growth even when the plant doesn't appear to be pot bound. As a consequence I like to over-pot plants whenever possible, which I know is not conventional wisdom. Luckily there is a nursery not far away that specialises in trees, and they sell some exceedingly large pots.

I did read that Brugs can grow up to 30 ft. But I also read that they can flower for a long period of time. That's unusual, if you think about it, trees don't usually flower for very long.

That's right Peter they flower in flushes if you can maintain 10c through winter they will produce some flowers, the Sanguinea and Arboreas especially, one of my Arboreas has a fully developed seed pod from an early spring flower and is still flowering.

Thanks guys.:gnthb: I actually don't want them big ( I've seen them 20' high in Turkey) as I've only got a small garden. 6'-7' is big enough so that I can grow more of them. Am I harming the plant if I keep them in small pots:scratch: I will try taking some cuttings from above the "Y" this year in the hope of keeping them smaller. Oh! I've got another couple growing from the seeds walnut sent:). I hope I'm learning:wink:

No Caj.you are not harming the plant, the cuttings you take this year above the "y" will flower next year when they are only a foot or so high, you contol its ultimate size with size of pot and amount of feed, you wont have the RSPB (royal society for the protection of brugs)after you.:D

Hi, just getting into Brugs myself.

Walnuts been a great help and this thread is realy interesting. I want to know if anyone has a Brugmansia Knightii per the one mentioned in http://www.junglegardens.co.uk/PlantOrders/index1.html.

I have looked at all my lcaal grden centres but none have them, or they are sold online.

I'd love to hear from you guys who have one.

Hmm! Do T&M do Knightii? If not, I'm gonna send of for some Cestrum seeds from Jungle Seeds. ( as you know from a different thread) Do you want me to get some Knightii seeds at the same time? It'll save the P&P!

Caj there's no such thing as Knightii seeds remember nearly all Brugmansias are self sterile which means you can only propagate a species by vegeative propagation, you can get hybrid seeds by crossing one Brug with another within the same genus.Only Arborea,Sanguinea (and some of their hybrids) will self pollinate and cross pollinate with one another.
T&m don't do Knightii and Jungle Plants have now sold out.

Walnut, got the Brug today and have potted it into a larger pot. In the greenhouse ally now. On another subject, got my results today and got a 2.1 in LL.B (Hons) (Business Law), very happy.

Congratulations Wagas - its always nice to have a formal qualification under the belt. You don't neccessarily have to have a career in that area - it will open a lot of doors in other places as well.
