    If your plant has grown from a cutting you dont need to worry about the so called "Y" thing.
    That only applies to seed grown plants.

    I tend to like the standard look, so try to keep a clear stem, I then cut back hard to the top leaving a few stubs to grow next year.

    Some varietys tend to be better grown as bush plants, so you can cut them back fairly low.

    I have two types of Brugs (Suavolens and Miss Emilie McKenzie). Both are from cuttings this year and I have also grown them as standards with clear stems until the 'Y' fork. In only 4 months or so I am pretty impressed at the speed they grow and the numerous huge blooms they throw out. I will try keeping them in the greenhouse through the winter after taking some cuttings, and hope they grow back next year.
