Hi Alan and a very warm welcome to GC. I have chatted to you on UKEG - but its lovely to see you here.

There is a question I had been meaning to put on UKEG - but I will put it here. I would be very grateful if you could explain the difference between the cool Brugs (Sphaerocarpum) and the warm ones. Its not just a matter of which fall in which category - but why is there a distinction and how do the two groups differ in terms of flowering, overwintering, cross pollination, and cultivation etc.

Does this mean the cool brugs are better to grow in the cooler north? Sanguinea is almost too cool. I understand it can refuse to flower if its too hot (not a problem here in Yorkshire), but its winter flowering is more of a problem if you don't have somewhere to keep it. and show it off. Are things like Hurstwood Bryony (which I think is fabulous) winter flowering?

Longk - so pleased to hear that your Iochroma australis are germinating.

I just noticed this lunchtime that I have Iochrome cyaneum flowering!
