Me too...I'm really hoping they come back. Got a couple on a heat mat, trying to get them to show some life . Good luck! Wayne
One of my large ones didn't come into leaf with the others. I stopped watering it, but the pot was too difficult to move out of the conservatory (until the others get moved out) so I left it. Buds on the trunk have now "broken" about a foot from the base, so I figure that the top "wood" has died ... I think I am watering too much too early on ... when no leaves the plant isn't able to drink it all, and the roots are probably rotting / struggling.
I'll keep on waiting. Good tip about the overwatering but probably too late now. I've also got a couple that looked brown, shrivelled and dead right down as far as I can see. If two are alive, why shouldn't they all be, they've been in exactly the same greenhouse! Any recommendations for the brown ones? Any anecdotal evidence of brugs being raised from the dead? Could they also be alive at the roots? Hope springs eternal in the gardener's breast.
Hopefully not brown from Red Spider? I'm thinking about un-potting mine and re-potting with a more open compost.
That's what I've tried, about 10 days ago, re-potted into smaller pots and some new B&Q Verve with about 25% sharp sand. No signs of it sparking them back into life yet.
Cheers kristen....,2 of them could be datura then but the greener looking 1 im sure sal said thats a white flowering brug
I think that when Brug buds are small they can point upwards, and then as they grow their flower-stem gets longer and they point down. So time will tell
I usually spray plants with water on sunny days in order to get the dead looking stems to sprout, it usually works with erythrina, which can be a pain to get going from dormancy. I think woody stems shoot new growth is more about humidity rather than too much water at the roots. I did notice something strange on a variegated brug which was just four dead looking stems. One of the stems was hidden behind a large banana leaf, funnily enough that stem spouted before the other three, which were in full sun. Might be worth an experiment.
Interesting. Do you think worth chucking a clear plastic bag over them, to "up" the humidity? Probably would increase the warmth too.
I dont think it would hurt as long as you keep an eye open for moulds. Perhaps a fugicide spray before hand?
Joolz , funny thing , this is how I meet Kristen , he send me some seeds of his brugmansia planted 3 and got out 3 how good the white one is the one with big leaves , the one in flower is the yellow brugmansia , you kept indoor and flowering , mine are just waking up .
