Bubble Wrap Insulation for greenhouse - where to buy?

    @JWK .....It's taken me 3 days already and i'm still not put straight:doh:....i might put my ironing board in there...kill two birds with one brick:biggrin:

        It has taken me around three days too! Not full days but a few hours for all sorts of tasks,
        removed remaining tomatoes, clean and disinfect all the glass with Jeyes then bleach. Then leveled one border and laid down polystyrene sheets then sand and then my heating cable. So that is at ground level ready to stand my tender perennials on. It then took me a couple of hours to remove the auto-vent and fit a normal stay (I had to cut off the rusted bolts with a dremel). Fitting the bubble wrap took most of yesterday afternoon, it is quite a job and I understand why some folk leave theirs on all year round now.

        I've still not finished, I have to cut some flaps in the bubble wrap so I can open the vents and let some of the moisture out. Then I'm going to put a cold air fan on a timer, to come on every half hour or so to keep the air moving.

          I don't think you need it on "a lot". I ran mine last winter, for the first time, on a 15-minute segment timer 15-on and 30-off. Had no mould at all (and it was a wet winter) compared to previous winter (which was very dry, but I had a lot of mould - had even more stuff crammed in the subsequent winter and all ...). Highly recommended.

            Do you have vents opens as much as possible Kristen? (I think you used your conservatory last year but the same would apply for a greenhouse I think).

            You are right that I used the conservatory, but it had no vents :( so answer to your question is "no" :) (Might have been a bit of air leakage, but I doubt it was significant as the Perspex was mostly silicon'd in)

              +1 for using a fan. I completly bubble wrap my greenhouse covering all the vents and louvers. My cold air fan comes on every half hour during the day and at night the fan heater comes on when the temp. drops to 5 centigrade. I have done it this way for the last 15 years or so and never get a problem with moulds or rot.

                That's very useful information. Can I ask what type of plants you over-winter in your greenhouse?

                Thanks for the welcome, You will have to bare with me if I make a few mistakes. Anything invented after about 1955 is a complete mystery to me. :)
                I mainly over-winter Pelegoniums and Fuschias, plus a few Begonia Rexes. All my over-wintered plants are intended for showing at a few local shows in August and September.

                  I've never thought of using a fan:doh:....but i haven't suffered with mould or rot (touches wood)...My GH has a door at the front and the back and i just open those for some air....:dbgrtmb:
