We crossed pete as well. I get the Swallowtails but even better the Scare Swallowtail which I managed to photograph last year ... a real beauty and so huge ... it was bigger than the camera and I've got a clunky camera!

Well I wish we got them over here.
I was going to ask who Terry Pratchet might be, but I didn't want to appear THICK. :D

Ah, Terry Pratchett.... He writes the "Discworld" novels - fantasy stories about highly comical witches and wizards and such stuff - with many a shrewd and entertaining comment on the way of the world. His bank balance isn't funny, though. He's in the deadly serious multi-millionaire bracket now!

The two-part "Hogfather" film shown last Christmas was based on one of his books.

That's okay, pete, I'll be thick for both of us! [IMG]

Haven't seen any here yet but maybe it's early and my book doesn't say when so could be anytime? As I'm new to this, I don't know timings. Here are mine from last year ...

A very dissapointing show from the butterflies up north this year, all due to the weather. :(
Have seen red admirals, small tortoishell, peacocks, speckled wood, gatekeepers and loads of cabbage whites.
Haven`t seen any painted ladies or commas this year :(

Still seeing peacocks and the odd red admiral up here.

What species are still being spotted by anybody else on the forum?

P.S LOL, saw several swallowtails whilst on my hols, absolutely stunning to see. You are so lucky to have them on your doorstep.

Hi pip. Haven't seen any Swallowtails since I took that pic. We have had very few butterflies this year for some reason and it's not been a hot summer so I don't know why, but I'm new to this since last Autumn.

Strangely, on today's outing I had a Clouded Yellow (?) right in front of me on a Lantana, absolutely gorgeous ... had camera ready, took shot and it fluttered away. Bingo. Came home and downloaded the photos and it turned out pure white ...
