          Red Admiral on our Verbena bonariensis (borrowed a friend's camera as the macro is rubbish on mine I keep saying I'll get a new one but that seems to always be in the 'get around to it' category)

          Now that some of our wildlife attracting flowers are out in profusion we have masses of pollinators around. The loud sound of bees is a constant background whilst the butterflies are everywhere. The Large Whites also continually fly around us and land on us. Hoverflies seem to be around in their thousands and we like those because they not only pollinate but their larvae also eat aphids. :)

            We counted 13 butterflies on these flowers but by the time I got my camera we were down to just 7 in this picture unless you can count more :)

            They seem to be very happy.

              I've been seeing some Bumble bees on the balcony during the last couple of days but no butterflies since the only Peacock I've seen so far this year last Saturday when I returned home from doing some shopping in town.

                  The garden is now covered in a variety of butterflies whose steering seems to have gone wrong as they keep flying into us as we walk! Dozens of them everywhere :thumbsup: :)

                    @shiney, you had Small Tortoiseshells as well as Peacocks and Admirals.:blue thumb:

                    Essex Skipper, seen at Wisley, the first I have ever seen. I thought it was a Small but the black antenna tips are black proving it to be an Essex.

                      @strongylodon thanks :blue thumb:

                      We also have lots of Large Whites that don't seem the least bit bothered when we're around. They are always landing on us :rolleyespink:
