Gatekeepers often erupt in large numbers and this year is no exception, they are everywhere.

            Great pics.
It’s a long time since I have seen so many butterflies in my garden ,especially RedAdmirals.
            Apparently it’s the same everywhere.
It does add to the joy of gardening ,to sit there with a cup of coffee and they are wizzing round your head……..and loads of bees as well.

Just managed to take a pic of a tortoiseshell before it flew away.

Buddleia was busy today, Red Admirals, Brimstones, Peacocks and Large Whites. The Gatekeeper and Holly Blue never settled.

I found an adult in the greenhouse earlier in the year and "deported" it to the fuchsia. Looks like it transplanted okay.

I spotted this Comma butterfly in the park this morning - fortunately I had my camera with me and it was obliging about holding its pose. Love its prettily scalloped wings!

I'm also very pleased to have seen Red Admirals and Jersey Tiger moths around here recently. And envy those of you spotting Hummingbird Hawkmoths - I have only ever seen those in the south of France, but I gather there are some around locally, so am keeping my fingers crossed and eyes peeled.
