Red Admiral on the Verbena Bonariensis, it's the first time that it's been on it.

Red Admiral in the garden at lunchtime - like @Logan's, my clump of verbena bonariensis was the draw. That is popular with other butterflies too - usually has some Small Whites fluttering around it.

Yeah, but I didn't know it at the time I thought it was just a ceiling moth.

I am thrilled to report that I've seen a humming bird hawk moth in my garden three times, over the last couple of weeks - I knew there were some around locally, but this is the first year that I personally have seen this species in the UK. They are the most delightful little creatures:wub2:

I don't have a buddleia but yes they have been appearing in the early evening, to feed on my verbena and salvias. The only proof I can provide is the utterly pathetic photo below - the light is poor by then and the moth in constant movement :wallbanging:

Some slightly better shots of the humming-bird hawk-moth, taken today at lunchtime. It was feeding on my Royal Bumble salvia this time - I was quite surprised to see it still around and active, given that Saturday and Sunday nights were so cold.
