Butterfly/ Moth /Dragonfly Images

First Small Copper of the year.

Nice fresh-looking Gatekeeper in the garden yesterday.

 

I'm mainly seeing Large Whites and Gatekeepers in the garden, but today a Peacock had a brief sit on my table.

 

Our first Peacock butterfly. I had to wait ages for it to open its wings.

Jersey Tiger Moth.

 

This Jersey Tiger moth just decided to park himself on the outside of one of my windows for a while. Photo taken from the inside, so the grotty glass is all too visible, but it was interesting to see both sets of wing patterns visible, with the sunlight shining through:

 

Red Admiral - there were two together. Not seen one for some time.

 

No pictures I'm afraid, but I was just saying about how many butterflies we have around it the last 2-3 weeks and getting more by the day. Nice thing is that most are not cabbage whites (or any other white), but lots of different types I don't think I've seen for years. My eyes aren't what they were, but I'm sure this is one of those we seen today (picture from web)


A "Grizzled Skipper" apparently - never heard of it!

 

Grizzled Skippers are very small only fly from May to June as was the one below so probably something else.


Red Admiral and Peacock on the Buddleja as well as the Brimstone again today, Large White never settled.

 

Box tree moth found in my kitchen. Later there were two more trying to get in the window. We have two box bushes outside so I had better inspect them today.

 

Green veined whites in the garden today, on bramble and small teasle.

 

Plenty of Demoiselles on the wing today

 

Red Admiral on the buddleia and Mint Moth on the mint, both from the garden this morning.
