Butternut squash trials!

    I don't know but why not try nipping out half of your plants and seeing how they go.

    Mrs shiney just told me that she tried nipping out some growing shoots but it didn't seem to stop them [​IMG] [​IMG] [​IMG]

    Hello, I'm new to the forum, but I've been reading this thread on growing squash and whether you can grow them in Scotland. The answer is yes. I grew Butternut Sprinter last year and got a very good crop. I grew them in 12" pots filled with a mixture of compost and 6X. They did grow about 8' long and I got 4 squash per plant on a south facing bed. I would say if you fancy it, give it a go. I'll be growing them again this year. Will post a pic as soon as I work out how to do it.

    This is some Butternut squash I grew in Scotland last year, and very tasty it was. And I can post a pic !
