Can I suggest you go for the heaviest cabbage, setting a weighing date of 1st October. You can weigh before then if the cabbage has finished growing. The cabbage should be dressed, i.e. stalk and any tatty outer leaves removed. You need to post photos at various stages, potting on, planting and a couple of times up to harvest with a measure indicating scale. Then a photo at harvest time on some scales. As it's for fun these rules can be amended, ignored or modified as you like.

And we’re off… 16 seeds in multi-purpose compost; 16 into ‘soil improver’ from the local green waste recycling

Sorry for delay, my depression been really bad last 2 days and I only just dragged my backside up to force myself to do this.

Looking very professional @JimmyB compared to my poor efforts. I broke my tiny pots so only had these to use and to be fair its a sloppy job so not counting on much here.

I have started an early small headed variety.

Google says "This popular deep red compact variety is a heavy producer of tasty round 6-7 inch solid round heads. Vigorous plants are easy to grow, for late summer / early autumn harvesting. The colourful vitamin-rich heads are delicious cooked or raw in salads and coleslaw. 70-80 days to maturity."

We might have to re-think the rule about heaviest cabbage.

                      Tastiest ?
