Callistemon (Bottle Brush Shrub) help

    Oh no not again Jack
    Looking at the pics of "bottle brush" are nothing like mine that Someone told me that is a bottle brush, so I tended it carefully
    Now I am sure I have been cultivationg a WEED :cry3:

    Jack, you win some you lose some. it's all in a days gardening. I bet it's a very healthy weed though. :heehee:

      Joolz, leave it to regrow.

      Nick, difficult to tell from that distance, could be C Palidus or possibly a Leucadendron, similar to Callistemons.
      This was my C. Pallidus at my last garden.

        I can not take a pic yet as it does not come into "bloom" until about July
        The cane is about 3' to 4' high then I get a pink flower like a babys bottle brush well a little more tapered than that, about eight inches long

        I will do a search on Ziggy's know your weeds lol

        It doesn't look like a callistemon to me, I'm just wondering if it could be a banksia, possibly Protea family ?

        I wish I had taken a close up now, but I remember thinking "Oooh big bottlebrush - must take photo" as I wandered by - it did have the right kind of flowers, thin leaves rather than needles & the strange round seed pods so Im pretty sure I was in the right area, but it was a bit of a monster. What I should have done was detach a few seed pods & smuggled them home, but I didn't think about it at the time.
