can a pressure washer be connected to the same tap as a washine machine?

This doesn't surprise me as many people are pretty ignorant of this "obligation."

I was only aware of it at the time as I've known the owner of the local DIY store for decades and he told me when I changed mine in the nineties. I guess it's up to the local water company to police this as I presume the regular police wouldn't want to know.
The water companies are pretty lax on things, like hosepipe bans.
Our local water supplier's website said during the last hosepipe ban words to the effect, "anyone found repeatedly ignoring the ban, may be prosecuted."
And how many were prosecuted for breaking the previous ban?

    None!

I had lengthy correspondence with the water company over the hosepipe ban and they eventually when I wanted to use the hosepipe to fill my watering can on my veggie plot nearly 300ft away.

In our area, according to United Utilities website, disabled people were exempted from the ban. As my wife is registered "severely disabled," I did suggest that she then should clean the car, but she wasn't having it. But I did interpret that as, it meant I could use my pop up sprinklers, as she was quite able to turn the control.
As it was, it wasn't necessary, because as soon as I installed them, it chucked it down until the ban was lifted.

The non-return valve doesn't have to be in the tap (as I understand it) - I've got a non-return valve fitted in the pipe work which is hiidden away behind the kitchen sink. Maybe they put a valve somewhere else?
