    What does your neighbours say about it, do you have to go up a ladder to prune the dead palms or do you wait for the natural drop

    My neighbours dont do gardening,:biggrin: anyway its not really a problem to them anyway.
    The dead leaves take years to drop, infact they stay attached if left to their own devises, so every couple of years I get out the ladder.
    The dead flower stalks are more of a problem.

    Is that because they spikes I heard horror stories of them falling and hitting people's heads on the way down :snork: painful :thud:

    No spikes or thorns on Tachys, the frond(leaf) stems are smooth.
    Its a good way of distinguishing a young Trachy from a Chamaerops, which can be confused when young.

    Edit, Ah were you referring to the flower stalks?
    They dont have spikes either, just look awful after flowering.

      Pete I took your advise and should have a trachycarpus fortunei delivered in next day or so
