I have rooted Dahlia cuttings now; I was going through a spell a few weeks ago of wandering around the garden just thinking what I could try and take cuttings from. So the Dahlia was one of them, just normal cuttings not with a piece of tuber like often suggested in the spring. Only question mark being I wonder how these will overwinter as its a plant that normal goes dormant and overwinters as a tuber.........hmmmm should be interesting :)

Late season cuttings I have always over-wintered "warm enough" to keep them going. My Cold conservatory has been sufficient, not sure a cold greenhouse would be (except in mild parts of the country). My conservatory is warm on days when the sun comes out, and may hit 0C one or two nights a year, but never goes below [I provided emergency heating last February when we had -16C outside - but we don't get that in most winters

P.S. I've moved my Dahlia discussion out of this Canna thread, in case you want to discuss over there - see earlier post for a link

Nice looking plant that is Sal, not too dissimilar to my 'mystery' Canna that I bought this year with no name and still don't have a definite ID??

Mine does have slightly more arching/lax leaves though but is pretty much the same colour and has the same clumping habit, do you know what colour flowers this one has Sal?

but I`m open for new variety.

I would actually just be happy with start to collect chimeras only ....that would be impressive ; )
