You're right Kristen, it happens with all seed at some time or other, I've failed badly with a normally easy tree seed; Paulownia, in the past and yet I knew I did everything right, they should have germinated, so I bought some more, did the same thing thing and they all come up :dbgrtmb:

I know there are failures in sowing seed but what's odd is that it is 4 different kinds of canna! Will hope that these germinate but looks unlikely now.
Will try again next year :snork:

I'd say there is still time for the ones you have sown and definitely still time to buy more and sow.
        Its early yet.;)

Do Canna's need direct sunlight? I have several rhizomes that are taking up valuable windowsill space and 2 trays of seedlings (warszewiczii and indica). The seedlings are liking the direct sun but my guess is that the established rhizomes do not as they are not growing towards the light?

All Cannas need strong sun to do well.
My thoughts are the seedlings are in full growth, whereas the older rhizomes have not really waken up yet, or at least not growing like they do in the summer.

Hi Mowgley, where have you got ur seeds? Just asking because maybe it's not warm enough.Like I said in a previous post, I have always put mine in the airing cupboard where it is nice and warm and they have always germinated. They don't take long either in there. If you've got nothing to lose why don't you try it?:)

Oh ok. My airing cupboard is warming than that though, and my seeds are in a sealed container. Don't know if that makes any difference.Good luck with them and let us know how you get on:)
