It is not of course the same flower all through as it loses one another appears. Pot it on into something large and it will flower all summer if properly looked after. No need to buy a new one. In spring, if it's the same as mine, you should get 4-6. But do give it a large pot over summer.

Mine is yellow by the way. If we are both successful, we can swap.

I had built up quite a good collection of cannas until in 2003 the virus struck, it took me a while to work out what the problem was, as the plants still grow, but are stunted the leaves are marked, and they dont flower very well.

I've only just bought another plant this year hoping that it wont return.

I used to leave the roots in the ground until March and then dig them up and divide, pot up and put in the greenhouse.
I found that if you just leave them in the ground they start very late and flower very late. By dividing in March and growing in a greenhouse for a couple of months they get a head start.

Pete. You can probably get away with leaving them in the ground all winter. Don't think I'd risk it up here.

Hi folks. The canna that I bought is still flowering well. Is this usually the case ? Does it flower all summer long ? Cheers...freddy.

If you dead head, freddy, and by that just cutting off the flowered part, there is usually another flower stalk starting to grow just below the first, sort of a side branch.

Eventually that stem will stop flowering, but there should be others coming along and flowering in turn.
