Has anyone thought to ask the person at the other end of the phone, how much they can do a deal. If it is the cheapest they can do then go elsewhere, but in most cases they do not wish to lose your custom so they will try their very best to undercut the cheap offer you have sourced by looking around.
Like I have always been told, if you do not ask you do not get.

I always tell current insurer what I have been offered elsewhere and always the same result sorry NO

I do have another anecdote that I can not make sense of
I was working, driving to work and back in the rush hour, driving 15k miles a year
I retired I was now a man of leisure
I looked forward to my renewal :)
Hi I said it is I, just to let you know, I will only be doing 3k miles a year now, and just during the day as I have retired, plus the car is a year older

Thank you sir now your premium will INCREASE by £60 a year
PARDON I have reduced my mileage and no longer commute in the rush hour
Correct sir, you will be leisure driving thus the increase DOH
    I went elsewhere

If anyone can give me the understanding of why it increases I would be interested

Here it is the car that is insured, not the person, so anyone can drive the car to whom you have given permission, but they should be over 25. Yes, year of car, make and what it runs on makes a difference and different companies give different rates but in general it is cheap.

As far as TV licenses go, well they almost don't exist as they are on your electricity bill and about €4-odd per month. Satellite TV and most have a minimum of a 1.4m dish is free unless you want all the movie/sport channels.

Without looking back ... was it Moonraker who said Rip Off Britain .... ?
