I was reared with birds, of a different kind. My mum used to breed parrakeets and budgies. So I have a certain amount of knowledge as to what they're about.

A few years back I was driving into the local town with my daughter and wondered why drivers kept veering across the road. When I got to this point there was a seagull in perfect condition sitting in the middle of the road. People were not only driving round it but over it too, wheelbase astride the bird.
I pulled up behind it, put my hazard lights on, took a towel from the boot and scooped it up, covering it's head and eyes so that it didn't panic. Funnily I never thought about it biting me.
I got back in the car, gave it to my daughter to hold, turned the car round and headed for our local version of the RSPCA. I hasten to add a very caring place.
They took it from me and said it was probably suffering from heat exhaustion. On recovery they took it back and released it close to the place I'd picked it up. Job done!
I can just picture the looks on the faces of the drivers I'd held up to go through that procedure.
Only goes to prove some of us are more caring than others. :)

My heart still bleeds for our site chicken who was cruelly taken by a fox. She used to share my tea & pasties, regardless of wether I was still using either.

She used to "Bok" us all up in the morning & follow us round to take care of any spiders that were disturbed.

Recently saw a sign at a car boot sale car park scrawled "Disabled Badgers Only" and wondered if it was for Glade who's probably old enough to drive by now.
