Yeah but just think how much it would cost to fill your tank, and in doing that you would probably cut down on your usage, (no what the gov. want at all).
I agree the cost to the enviroment when building a car should come into it. But all this proves that none of the so-called green taxes are green taxes. Just another part of "rip off Britain".

Never voted labour in my life (thanfully) voted UKIP last time around.

Cant see the point of fussing over emisssions and CO2 anyway when china, india etc and the USA will continue to what the hell they like.

Looks like I`m going to pay an extra £30. Pro, the only reason I didn`t vote UKIP was because they wanted to s**** the smoking ban, and I know of other people who thought the same.

So whats the emmisions from smoking?

I tend to go with China and India and yes the USA.
No one in history has ever bothered about the CO2 they produce, so why do we think we can change the world.
Its a millstone around our necks that we dont need.

Lets be fair, saving the planet is the best thing that ever happened to a Labour government. They can rake in billions so that they can all have free second, and even, third homes thanks to the British taxpayer. And if they can get everyone who is on benefits, back to work, then they are laughing all the way to the bank. [IMG] :D

I appreciate the problems of global warming - but the real problem is population. I read recently that China is now actively trying to increase its population, as it fears there will not be enough people to look after an ageing population. So too is Uganda, Iran and numerous other countries who consider that size is power, as well as those that just don't care.

So what is the point in making a saving just so that other countries can multiply and use it up.

Well, as you all probably know, I have a few cars, my 4x4 gas guzzling 2.5 td Mitsubishi Pajero doesn't really alter in the tax hike, though I know it is more polluting that the current 3.2 td model, as they are a CRD and are controlled by an ECU. My subaru is more or less unchanged also, due to its age (though again, is more polluting than anything standard, as I would not class it as standard ;) ), my works van again is unchanged, but again it is not as polluting (2.4 td 52 plate and ECU controlled). I also have a 1964 Land Rover SWB 2 1/4 petrol, that is definately a polluter, due to it's age and lack of cats etc ..... And guess what, the tax is FREE :D . Figure that one out.

Buy a car registered before 1973 and the road tax is free. I have even thought of buying one and fitting a modern engine, best of both worlds on performance etc, but older cars don't usually have the same ride :D .

My brother recently has bought for work, a Transit 2.9 petrol with gas conversion. the 2.9 engine is a donor from the Granada/Scorpio, the Cosworth engine, and boy does it shift :D , he gets to drive around London's congestion charge zone for free, road tax is cheaper and he has said that when running on gas, he has noticed a difference in his pocket for the better.
