You're right @HarryS and I thank @WeeTam for coming up with the idea, that hadn't occurred to me. :dbgrtmb: Mr S and I crawled over the Ford Kuga today and I still think it's to big. However, sticking with the 2wd thought, the Ford Ecosport and Nissan Juke are back on the list. I do most of the driving because I'm a lousy passenger and I don't want to go back to lugging something big around having got used to a smaller car. It's an age thing I think!

You're right about the Ford Edge Harry, they are big but a nice looking vehicle. :) My daughter bought one earlier in the year and loves it. Living in Canada, she and other half spend a fair bit of time in the mountains around Vancouver for winter sport, so it's ideal for them.

I must admit, the Ford Edge is a mighty fine vehicle - if I had the money, I would consider one myself. The Ecosport doesn't get very good reviews at all, which is odd for a Ford as they pretty much always hit the spot with their motors.

The Juke is due to be facelifted in the coming months, so look out for crazy deals on nearly new ones (literally buying what is almost a brand new car at the same money as a two year old one)

Thanks FC, I'll keep my eyes peeled, we'll probably be buying end of September/early October.

Not the kind of drag I was thinking about, this is more appropriate where Fiat are concerned:

Never worked out how they managed to sell any Nissan jukes.

It must be the ugliest car ever designed, if designed is the right word:smile:

That's why I like them @pete, they look different to everything else on the road. :) I owned a Megane for the same reason in the past.

Hows about one of these? but maybe a newer one?
It seems to handle mild conditions pretty well, but I don't know much about 4x4/awd etc.
Clearance seems to be an issue, but I doubt you will be doing off road as such??
I am in Nortyhamptonshire remember, where an inch of snow grid locks towns!

I agree with FC regarding Subaru. Lots of farmers/labourers use them.

Sorry NG, we don't want an estate and have never considered a Volvo and probably never will.

I sat in traffic gawping at this yesterday, :wub2: The Juke Nismo, way beyond my pocket though!

When I was looking for a new car last August my life long pal told me not to bother with the Juke as he'd already checked it out........and found that it wasn't long enough internally to fit our fishing rods and poles in!!!:dunno::heehee:

Where's the fun in you lot gone?!:biggrin: I'm not looking for a boring workhorse that looks like everything else on the road. However, because I need certain requirements for my driving position the Juke has beaten everything else I've sat behind the wheel of so far, it's so comfortable. :)

I understand why you have asked opinions @Sheal, but only you know what you will be happy with, and what you like the look of. Don't let our views sway your decision.
I take ages to choose new cars, and even longer checking them over at the dealers
