    Oh, yes please @shiney :)

That looks pretty fearsome having to navigate between stones, especially as it looks as though it is an area that will see plenty of dust storms.

I have done driving instruction/training both on cars and buses/coaches, but that is not my job - currently, I am a Commercial Manager working in a busy department that arranges everything from scheduling for day and daily services through to rail replacement services, private hires and event services. I am also something of a dinosaur nowadays, in as much as I have driven all sorts from the traditional routemasters through MCW Metrobuses, Leyland Nationals, Leyland/Volvo Olympians and coaches of various sorts.

Ultra Cool! :) I have only ever driven vehicles with automatic transmissions - except for one time trying to use an empty plaza car park to practice. Could only get up to 2nd gear before I ran out of parking lot. I must learn to drive this vehicle as it needs to get a run one in awhile according to the manufacturer. It has 6 gears plus reverse, so I've only learned less than 20% and that on a flat surface. Oh how I wish I had your skills! :)

@fat controller I'll see whether I can find the link but even if I do the blog may no longer be there. I'll do my best. :blue thumb:

Navigating between stones wasn't difficult as they just marked the sides of the road.

The above shots were taken in Peru and the one below was in Chile

Once the PAH goes through Patagonia and the lower part of Chile it peters out where the Chilean Fjords are and you have to drive around the fjords - or take a ferry through the fjords.

All it takes is a wee bit of practice really. Do you have a driving instructor locally that could take you out for a few lessons in a manual?

As long as you use your ears (to listen to the engine), your bum (to feel what the vehicle is telling you), and be gentle with the controls, you will have it nailed in no time.

It's a shame my daughter doesn't live nearer to you @CanadianLori. I would have volunteered her services as she is a driving instructor, but in the Vancouver area. :)

Just so you all know, that is if your loosing sleep over it. at the beginning of this thread----the second picture---the one with my husband working on the red car. Just and update, he is still working on the red car. In fact it pretty much looks the same, so not repeating the pic. says he put new break lines in it, and new something, somethings. It gets to ride up and down on the lift in the garage, not to quick for the car. His brother also comes over and they both --do whatever. Then his brother gets dinner out of it.

Sounds like he is doing a loving restoration @redstar :dbgrtmb:

As well as keeping him amused, and providing an excuse for quality time with his brother, he is slowly building value into that car. Have you seen the rate that classic cars are appreciating at the moment? Most are a much better investment than a bank account or even a pension!

BTW, on my car, a 2004 SUV Toyota, had a air bag recall, took it in to the toyota dealer to fix free of charge. He said on the phone, that he would give it a look over to see if anything was wrong. I said, no need it runs just fine, I have my own place I take it to, besides that you would be listing things that are unnecessary and that is why I do not use the dealership to check my car. So, got to the dealership, you should see this waiting room, 20 plushy seats, two wide screen TV. a snack bar with 6 more seats. Like, wow. makes the pain go away I guess if your stupid enough to have them take care of your car. Anyway, air bag fixed and I was on my way. My car just turned 160,000.00 miles, and its great.

Yes, they do have a high value, particlarly if they are numbers matching like the 'cuda we have. :) But it is expensive to insure them unless you have a boomerang style tracker on them and a security sytem such as we have. No matter the value, these old muscle cars are fun :)

And yes, I'm freshening up the spare romm for you and the Mrs - let the lessons begin :heehee:

Okay @fat controller, I think I've left you lingering long enough. Here's the new car. :)

It's two years old, five door, with 15,000 on the clock. A Juke N-tec which is middle of the range with a couple of updates from the previous owner - wheel change and spoiler. A 1598cc petrol engine and manual gearbox, five forward gears. It's not a 4x4, they are only available top of the range and apparently we won't need it here anyway. Reversing camera, Satnav, climate control and selection of engine adjustments for different driving areas 'Sport, Eco and Normal'. There's also various buttons on the steering wheel that include radio adjustment and cruise control. I'm still to work out the others, as well as other controls connected to the on board computer.

If I've forgotten anything I'm sure you'll remind me.
