To roam or not to roam that is the question (Sorry, I'm in a quoting/misquoting mood today :heehee:) - and I don't think either proponent will ever agree. :noidea:

There are breeds, and temperament, of cat that are more happy indoors and others outdoors. We were lucky enough to have been adopted by a rather unusual cat. We had seen him around for about 10 years before he adopted us and decided that Mrs Shiney was going to be his constant companion.

He didn't want to come into the house but set up home in the greenhouse and was out the moment Mrs Shiney appeared. His philosophy seemed to be two legs good, four legs bad (sorry, again :snorky:). Humans and birds were always welcome in his garden and the regular birds got to know it - even the baby pheasants were allowed to play with him. Dogs, foxes, rabbits, squirrels and deer were met with 20lb of hissing, wild eyed devil that even the deer ran away from! He also kept other cats out - apart from one sickly friend and another that was a sometimes friend.

So our best cat deterrent was a cat!

I love and respect all forms of life. Cats are not my favourites but I wouldn't harm them. In my book. It's the cat that chooses YOU and not the other way around. I saw a clip on the TV recently. Some cats actually attacking the owner. Never mind the animal psycology etc. That cat is dangerouse.

Well, cats tend to own People rather than the other way around:dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley: As people know my two cats can't get out of the garden, nor can cats get it, due to my fences being topped with 4' frames of slack chicken wire. The Blackbirds are King in my garden and boss my two cats around and they have to get out of the way if the Blackbird thinks they're in the way.:heehee:

You need to watch the TV series "My Cat From Hell". The cat psychologist (who looks like a Hell's Angel biker) works wonders with them. :blue thumb:

I'm a big fan of Jackson Galaxy :love30:. Amazing guy with a huge talent for sorting out badly behaved cats. Some of the owners have been putting up with their cat's attacking them and their anti social habits for a long time. In the case of one lady her cat had been attacking her for a number of years :hate-shocked:.

Apparently, it takes on average 2 months for a cat to train its owner - this must be true because I heard it on the radio :dbgrtmb:

Have you ever come across a book by Terry Pratchett called the Unadulterated Cat? It strikes a chord with what you said about the cat choosing the person and not vice versa, good little book and very funny observations about cats!

I am completely managed by my cat, and have even been known to get out of my seat if the cat decides that's where he would like to sit....:pathd:

Hi I'm new on here. I have a problem with a cat using the edges of my flower beds so I've put down orange peel and grated citronella only to go out and find the cat has done its business in my 14" crocosmia which is tightly packed and has flattened the 14" grasses around the poo presumably to make it more comfortable.
                      Grrrr!

I read that the person who's having the problem with cats is to get one themselves, don't know if it works.

It's possible but people that have that problem mainly don't want a cat to look after. :noidea:
