    I'd love to see that reshaped again.

    Does it have straps, looks pretty exposed to wind ?

    Some steel hawzers were fitted several years ago. You can just make them out in the pictures.
    Knowing a bit about the history of the site I reckon it was planted around about 1840ish.
    That makes it 169 years old give or take..

    Nah, you flatter me. Couple of minutes with Google, your description, and orientating your pictures to the aerial perspective.

    I was going to guess 150 years old - its a big chappie for a Catalpa in this country.

    Thats a tall one capney:thumb:

    I'm not 100% sure but I seem to remember an ancient catalpa just out the front of Rochester Cathedral.
    Maybe Woo can shed some light on the subject for me?
