Why is wood superior to coal?

You only get one warm out of coal, but you get two warms out of wood (one when you cut it and one when you burn it).

And what is wrong with hand saws, axes and muscle? Boys toys indeed!

I have seen the rest of the discussion Dendo - have you? It is about the merits of various makes and power sources. My point is not.

Nothing wrong with saws and axes HB; nor as far as I can determine was anyone saying there was. Think the post was originally about chainsaws rather than male bravado. Never the less this also is a fine subject and I personally love axes and be-muscled grunting about in the undergrowth, but if pushed would have to say that I prefer chainsaws to axes simply because it's so darned hard sharpening flints and the neighbours have started questioning my source of cat-gut bindings. Must find a new gaff. Does anyone know of an affordable, vacant, cave in the W14 area?

we have come a long way since the flint tools.one has to embrace modern way of living those who think otherwise must surely be very fit and with all the time in the world, were would our good wives be without the modern appliances, still stuck with washing boards, ovens that took ages to heat, brushes instead of hoovers, the list gose on
