what a good idea [IMG] I will go to morrisons tomorrow to see if they have any of the black buckets left. I tried tomatoes in a hanging basket a couple of years ago, it really was fantastic don't know why I have not tried it since, perhaps this year I will.

i get my black buckets from a florist near me for free, he is glad to get rid of them, and my husband had no trouble drilling them, the only thing about them was we had trouble releasing them as they were jammed in together so used lots of hot water which eventully worked. They are very good to use for planting veg as they are quite deep.

Have you tried putting them on the floor on their side and roll them gently under your foot it does work.

I always thought that was a super idea but must admit have never seen it done with the tanks on the back!

Like it, Dave W, like it ... clever clogs ... [IMG]

Actually, I have a bog and a bidet and two sinks and a bath sitting in my garden, now redundant ....

    NO, NO, NO ...

My dad gets lots of cheap pots from morrisons - I think it's 5 for 99p - they sell the pots they keep the flowers in, the big black ones.

I know of a couple who live nextdoor to where their council marshalls its bedding plants. They have been given large quantities of unwanted multicell trays and pots (including some good sized pots). And I am pleased to say that a fair number recently came my way.

I have observed that however happy a plant seems to be in a small pot, its always a lot happier in a larger one.

I agree the burning method works fine...I use our old camping stove and an old screw driver although sometimes it's not that old ...just don't tell Bob! [IMG]

It works a treat and I have never lost a bucket/pail or even burnt myself! [IMG]
