Don't get depressed, I'm with you Waco. Everything poked and prodded and groomed to perfection. They are not gardens - just big flower arrangments

I disagree - Chelsea is like a Harvest Festival, a celebration of plants and gardens. Yes its contrived - any show is - agriculture, horticulture, whatever. But it shows you things you wouldn't otherwise see, it gives you ideas that you wouldn't normally think of. If it wasn't for the crowds, I'd give my eye teeth to go - and experience the colours, the plants, the scents of banks of roses and lilies -

Long may Chelsea, and Hampton Court and the like continue.

I love the natural wild flowers and trees to the two are not exclusive - though one can't truly use the word wild in the UK, cos there is not one bit of the country that has not enjoyed or not, man's intervention.

Rosietu - Those Violas are absolutely stunning!!!! You must be proud only spending £2.50!!!
Caught a bit of the "red button digi bit " with Carole thingy at the David Austin stand. I wish I could have seen and smelt it. Roses are so beautiful!!! I don't like large crowds, but I have never been to one of these big shows - I would love to go, just the once.... maybe next year....
Now I MUST get back to the accounts I'm supposed to be doing.....

This was the picture I meant to put up the "Purple Babyface" Viola was the packet of seeds I splashed out on, Re visitation it was the 1st time I had ever been, the bye word is go early..8am it opens if you want to see anything, by 10am the crowds were 4 deep.
It was a memorable experience bit like
    "Crufts" with flowers!

Lovely colourful pictures Rosietu. I went on Tuesday and I was lucky to have a dry day so got to see most of the outside stuff in the morning and ventured inside later. I took some pictures before it got too hectic. We were staying in Chelsea so got there at opening time. Here's Chris, champagne at the ready before cracking it open to celebrate his gold medal. I loved the colours in the winning (best in show) garden this year. I've been pulling up the orange poppies big time since I got back. [IMG]

It's not Chelsea without the ubiquitous pensioner and this one was lovely. [IMG]

I didn't think I liked those silver plants but they look so good in that setting.

It seems to me that Chelsea is a bit 'overdone' by the BBC - have been once or twice but given up being pushed about all day.
My feelings are a bit mixed but seeing out of season plants with those in season worries me since we cannot reproduce that sort of thing at home.
Hampton Court is to my mind much easier for viewing and generally getting about
