I'd really like to know how your day goes @Fyfy K as going to Chelsea is something I'd love to do. I am very much a novice gardener, but I thoroughly enjoy pootling about my garden. I've hardly done any gardening the last year or so, and this year is going on a similar vein, but I've told hubby, catagorically NO HOUSE RENOVATIONS next year. I really want to re design our garden, and create areas of interest. At just shy of an acre, I know I'm taking on a tall order, but the will is there, if not the knowledge. Hope you have a fantastic time. Oh, and don't forget your camera!

@Joolz, an acre?! Blimey I thought my small garden was taking a lot of effort! Will definitely be recording my total beginner's view of it all, and snapping pics of anything that could be good for novices :)

It is rather dauntiing I admit. I had toyed with getting a landscaper/garden designer in, but to me, the prospect of taking the next 5 years (more like 100 :heehee:) to turn the garden into what I want, and learning along the way, is an exciting task. That and I don't think I'd have enough spare limbs to pay them with, lol..
I shall look forward to your pictures.

When I had a look a week or two ago the prices were £100 for non members and £45 for members

I would be really keen to go.
But those sort of prices are beyond me.
Would rather spend that on a new Tree Fern or Palm :blue thumb:

Take plenty of before pictures from different angles, before I redesigned my garden, I took some before pics but from the wrong angle so its not easy to compare old vs new.

@Sirius Ah that would be the reason, the show actually sold out months ago (I got my tickets back in January direct from the RHS website) so it's likely secondary vendors block book tickets then ramp up their prices as showtime approaches.

For anyone thinking of going next year maybe put a reminder in your diary for Jan Feb when they first go on sale to pay the lowest price.

@Sirius so they are, but I certainly did not pay £100! Probably a final release of tickets as I tried to get another ticket last month for my friend, but at that point they were showing as completely sold out. All the more reason to get them when they're cheaper!

Nonsense Joolz .... think of the adventure before you and enjoy every minute. I did that with 2 and a half acres, changing my mind as I went along on many occasions, taught myself to build brick walls, lay paths, foundations, gazebos etc etc. Great fun. And not a landscaper in sight :)
Don't forget ... every marathon begins with a first step ....

Can you come and move in for 12 months, lol... I am excited about it, as it's all a good learning curve, but as I'm still very green behind the ears, I know I'm not going to get it right first time. That's great though, as I'll learn as I go along.:blue thumb:

Looking forward to seeing who has won the golds today on BBC2's coverage.

I went last year and I've just come back from my second time today. I love it. It's very inspirational and rarely do you find the entire RHS Encyclopaedia of plants laid out for you to see and pick and choose to plan for next year. I'll go again next year but only for half a day again. It is busy, but never too bad really. You can get to the front of a garden crowd within a few minutes. I wouldn't ever buy anything there. Too much hassle. Just note down what you want and buy online after.
