Did you know that those green shoots that appear on older potatoes are poisonous? In large quantities that is! Take this as an example - many of our garden plants have poisonous qualities, if eaten, but most of us don't go around nibbling bamboo.

Hopefully I'm not being rude, but chill out :) You're more likely to die from poisonous fumes from road traffic than what's growing in your garden.

I have to agree with Aaron. You really don't need to worry about plants in the garden.

I was out yesterday visiting gardens in the yellow book. All the gardens had some plants that are poisonous - one had at least a dozen that we could spot. The NGS wouldn't allow them to be in the scheme if there was any danger from them. Just don't try eating anything that doesn't say it is edible. :)

I've heard that Morning Glory seeds are poisonous but they still were eaten by adventurous people in the 60's for their hallucinogenic properties. Maybe another thing for our Nanny Government to considered banning ???:ywn:

We have young Laurels planted last Spring.. in my Garden and we have since had a little Puppy .. who is insisting on chewing and eating quite a lot of things he is finding ..out there.. after reading this thread I am thinking that we should uproot our Laurels .. and replace with something else.. :doggysmooze:
