Sowed some Pikito on the 22nd Feb and that’s them just through. On to one of the south facing windowsills for them now for a couple of weeks anyway. Still have enough dried chillis from last year’s crop to hotten the munchies for a while yet.

That's a new one on me, it looks a strong growing pepper. Have you grown it before @hailbopp ?

First time I've grown it. Capsicum pubescens are supposed to be more cool tolerant and long lived but can fruit rather late apparently. Seeds were from Real seeds

No @JWK, I am far from a Chilli aficionado. I grow Chenzo because it is a really cute plant and does not grow too big for my rammed full greenhouse as per usual and an unnamed great Chilli the seed of which was sent to me by a well known admin;).

Even now is not too late to sow chillies although a month ago would have been better. They soon catch up. We sow our chillies in a seed sprouter and it depends on the variety how quickly they germinate. They are placed on damp kitchen paper in the sprouter and potted up when 1" - 2" high. That way you don't have to wait and wonder whether a seed put in a pot is going to germinate.

The super hot Naga based type chillies would have been better sown last month but most of the smaller or thinner chillies will easily be OK sown now.

We normally grow a couple of hundred plants and sell them to the public, Indian/Bangladeshi communities and the Asian wholesaler - all proceeds to charity. We have decided to cut back from now on and have only sown a couple of dozen. :noidea:

Hi, Shiney. A couple of hundred! Wow!

I sowed mine on wet tissue in plastic bags. I sowed a few extra in case of poor germination but almost all of them sprouted, so I think I've already sown too many for my own use.

For years we have been opening our garden to the public for charity and selling a thousand plants in a day - all propagated by Mrs Shiney and some donated by GC members when they came along to our open day. A good gathering of GC members plus around 500 public. So the chillies had a regular clientele as well as those ordered in advance. :blue thumb:

I found a pic from last year on march 12th, I certainly started earlier this year. I did overwinter a bunch of plants too though, not so this year IMG_20210313_083613123_HDR.jpg

I grew Cheyenne chillies in the greenhouse last year which produced lots of medium hot orange coloured fruits. I will be growing more this year. I bought them from www.thompson-morgan.com

Here are my peppers which were potted on a few days ago. I have 6x Corno di Toro sweet peppers and 2x Cayenne hot peppers. The cayenne is the one pictured in the middle. IMG_20220313_124402386_HDR-01.jpeg

All repotted now. I have transferred two of the locotos to larger pots in my unheated greenhouse in the allotment to see how they do. Theres no frost forecast but we could still get some for another month if the weather turns. I have too many plants so its a risk worth taking. They are supposed to do well with night time temps down to single figures
