Sorry James couldn't resist :snork: . I'm a first time chilli grower this year, perhaps not the best year to start! but one of my Apache's are just about to flower so I'm quite excited. Fingers crossed.

As i found it does become quite addictive indeed. I love apaches, once they start podding they wont stop im almost ready to pick my second lot of pods in a week even in this poor weather!! Quite a surprising heat to them too

There was someone commenting the other day about chilli plants being out doors, well as an update and an, in ur face,
    [IMG]
This is a group shot of my chilli plants which are left to the elements (in the growhouse)
Sweet bananas, developed and set pods, since being outside
    [IMG]
New pod formation on the scotch bonnet plant, c. Chinense (superhot)
And the monster bonnet plant itself
    [IMG]

So yes you can grow chilli plants outdoors in this weather and yes theyre in a pgh but doesnt offer v good protection. If further proof is needed ive also got apache pics nasu pics chenzo pics medina pics need i go on........

Can someone explain why the search is always on for hotter and hotter chillies, surely you just use more if you want more heat?

Personally one of these is enough for me.

That might have been me James, and in a plastic grow house is not considered outside.
      Its undercover.

It is, its "inside", a plastic grow house.
Nobody heats their greenhouse at this time of year, so if its out of the torrential rain and getting that little bit extra benefit from avoiding cold winds, its not outside.

But this wasnt previously specified and if i had a greenhouse, it would be heated considering current weather conditions. And its still not inside no matter how you try to quantify it, its still outdoors allbeit marginally protected by a polythene sheet....

OK James, I get the impression, if its not growing inside your house, then its "outside", as far as you are concerned.

From a gardening point of view, "outside" means just that, in the garden and receiving all nature can throw at it, a bit like cabbages or onions would be.

If it has some kind of protection, ie. a plastic grow house, it's actually under cover, under glass or under polythene, but it's not considered "outside", in the true sense.:)

Ok, i think this would b a nice place to draw a line under it :)
I will be more careful with my wording in the future.....

Not trying to be picky James, it's just that it can confusing if we dont state real growing conditions for others to follow.:)
