It's been a pleasure catching up with this thread tonight :)
So pleased your chillies are doing well joh.

I'm off to find out why I haven't been able to access this site .... if anyone wants to fill me in with any technical problems, I'd appreciate it :dbgrtmb:
I haven't been able to get on for 2 days. I thought I'd been banned :yikes: My advice is not rhs verified but I don't think it's that's bad? :heehee:

I don't think there have been any technical problems but there was a server problem for a very short time the other morning. @Fat Controller may have some pointers for you but he does work as well (unlike some of us of the leisure classes :heehee:) so you may not get an answer for a while.

Some types of chillies take longer than others to germinate. :noidea: Our Nagas usually take twice as long as the others.

Just pricked out my Cayenne and Jalapeno chillies today. I now have them in my light box . I bring them on for about 2-3 weeks . and then give most of them away . I just keep two to grow for fruit , more than enough for us .

I sowed them in cell trays, 1 per cell, in wilko seed & cutting compost then in a propagator.

@Loki - there was some server downtime, very early on the other morning - this was down to our host rather than GC itself, but it was all done and dusted by around 7am. I am not aware of any other problems.

@joh98.mac I start my seeds in soil blocks. My reapers took over 2 weeks to sprout. They can be very slow and @shiney is correct - it seems the hotter they are, the longer they take to show :)

I had that problem the other day but not just with GC. I rebooted my router and everything was then OK.

Thanks @shiney , to be honest I don't think it was that. I accessed all other news, google and apps, including school apps .
GC came up as a home page and told me I could not access the site.
I could see the home page, and even the amount of notifications!
When I clicked on ' new posts ' it shut me down.
                          At least I'm back now:)

Well, it's now 3 weeks since I showed my first batch of chilli seeds...

The Hungarian hot wax were up within 10 days, (one a little later), and 8 out of 10 germinated.
The Hungarian black were up within 14 days, and I now have both seeds germinated.
The patio sizzle had not broken the soil after 3 weeks (although a little tickling of the surface showed that 2 out of the 4 sow sites checked had a seed about to break).
The Cayenne have not broken the soil, and no sign of activity below the surface.
The Lombardo have not broken the soil, and no sign of activity (to be fair, these seeds are years past their sow-by date).

I've re-sown some more patio sizzle, and Cayenne, along with some Anaheim seeds which I'd missed the first time round.

I thought it might be useful for newbies to see the difference between different varieties, even when sown side-by-side!
