I'm in shock. I went to the local Homebase to discover that they aren't selling chilli or tomato plants yet!! They have ALWAYS sold these plants early in the year! How very dare they lol

They're in, just looking a little sad! I also have to fend off an excited 3 year old and ultra inquisitive 19 months old...

So, a little bit disappointed so far, with the progress of the seeds inside the sprouters.

There's something I don't understand. If Person X puts seeds into sprouter and gets results, and then I do exactly the same and don't... how is that possible?

To me, it's like two people opening the calculator on their computer, and both entering '1+1'. The first person's computer displays '2' whereas the second person's displays '7'.

              It should not be possible.

And these ones ... doesn't it look like they're starting to rot..? Or is that discolouration indicative of imminent germination?

It looks to me as though you're keeping them too wet. We have our just slightly damp. :noidea:

Those could be rotting but leave them - just in case. If any of them get a slight fluffy white look over them (as though it's fungus) it usually means they're germinating. So don't worry if you see that happen.

I just removed all of the lids, put the heating on for half an hour, and then when they were 'less soaking', put them all back together.

Those that were getting to be a bit dry, got a spray of water.

One of the chilis has sprouted, as have two of the tomato seeds underneath.

Yes! My make shift ( Tupperware ) sprouter worked! :hapfeet:
                    Special thanks to @shiney :)
These where old seeds so nothing lost in trying but more than happy with the results.
Next step is how do I get them out of the tub
Do I lift the kitchen roll and cut around or become all scientific with a scalpel and tweezers :rolleyespink: :heehee:

I'd just cut around them. Some of the other seeds look as though they're germinating as well.:blue thumb:

So one of the Cayenne seedlings - whom we have nicknamed 'Sarah' - is getting very big and is starting to angle herself a bit over.

                        upload_2019-3-17_10-1-6.jpeg

This may be because she's going for the light, so I turned the tray 180° this morning. If she is not upright by this evening, I elect to put her into a small pot on her own, and use a support of some kind, to keep her upright. Your thoughts?

As you can see, the others are doing very well. But I don't know the next steps. Can someone give me advice as to what I need to do next?

                          Looking good :dbgrtmb:

You can put all of them into small pots now. :) No support necessary. If the taller ones look a bit too wobbly you could just put them a bit deeper into the soil when you pot them up.

Thank you, I shall do that this afternoon.

What can I expect from here on in? When they're in pots, do they continue to grow? I'll need a lot of space, but that's fine.

When can I expect them to be in their 'permanent' home outside, so that I can start to get my greedy paws on the fruits?
