After 10 years of deliving malting barley to a brewey in Burton Upon Trent which over the fence is the Marmite factory, you get to like the smell and the waste grain and yeast is pumped from the brewey to the marmite factory, you have to blame the lager drinkers for the discovery of Marmite

 

Marmite and chocolate is wrong (I tried this bar)! And I like both.

You're so wrong. On toast, in a cheese and salad sandwich, egg sandwiches, the list is endless. Store cupboard essential too - try adding a spoonful to baked beans or gravy.

My butcher makes Marmite sausages which are lush!

 

They sell this at one of the garden centres. I haven't tried it but I like both dark chocolate and Marmite so it sounds intriguing.

 

Yes the smell is nice which come from using molasses to stick all the dry ingredients together and then they add some spices to make the flavour/smell consistent through out the different batches of food made, but i wouldn't eat it either has i seen some of the ingredients used

The brewers grains (waste ingedients) from brewing is taken straight to farms and used diret to feed the cattle not used in making cattle cake as it's to runey

Mrs K bought a mail-order "tasting box" from Hotel Chocolat some years ago ... turned out she had purchased a "Monthly subscription" ... never cancelled it once we realised what was happening ... they are brilliant, bit of an indulgence of course, but we have house guests, or visit someone, whatever, once a month, so the Chocs are used then.

Each month a bunch of chocolatiers dream up some concoctions and that's what goes into the Tasting Club box. Very high quality ingredients, so the result is superb, thoroughly recommended (if you can get over the £23 a month indulgence fee!)

Never had Marmite in there, but all sorts of other flavour combinations - including Chillie of course

 

I love Marmite, but always find it hard to find in the supermarket. Why can't they just put in next to 'Beefy Drink'?
