IMG_0390.JPG I bought Clematis Rebecca a couple of years ago (for obvious reasons!).
    I think she's rather beautiful.

Hi @Verdun, I grow them over obelisk's and over our garden fence, I don't really have a favourite one, but the I look forward to flowering every year is Buckland Beauty which I grow around our bird table. It never fails.

In Cornwall you've got Roseland House Nursery and Garden, I visited there last year while we were on holiday, only a small nursery but lots of different plants.

I tend to grow more unusual varieties of clematis, mainly type 1 and type 3.

I am just about (when if ever this dreadful weather disappears!) to move a smallish Viburnum Mariesii which is outgrowing it's space and it's attraction to me is it's lovely form so not pruning it. After flowering and until Autumn it's not a very exciting shrub so have planted Clematis to grow through some of the ones I have. Would Buckland's Beauty be suitable @Ian Taylor? it is not a Clematis I know but had a look at it on the RHS website and like the look of it. Good being group 3 as it then means not much growth on the shrub to possibly detract when flowering in May. Needs to be pretty tough weather wise? Any other suggestions (group 3) as will be doing similar with another Viburnum (Lanarth). I grow about 10 Clematis here which do ok. No doubt you will get better flowering being a kinder climate but they still produce a good show. Thanks

Hi @silu, Buckland Beauty would be fine, mine has been showing new growth already even with frost and snow, group 3 clematis depends on what colours you like her are a few examples.

            Alba Luxurians,
Carol Klein, brand new last year,
            Clematis viticella( species),
            Purpurea Plena Elegans,
            triternata rubromarginata (scented),
            Clematis tangutica (species),

One of the websites I use the most is Clematis on the Web. Hope this helps

Many thanks @Ian Taylor, I already grow Tangutica which I grew from seed many moons ago. I like the sound of triternata rubromarginata . Is this more vigorous than Bucklands Beauty? Obviously I want strong growth but not Montana type growth:yikes:. I have 2 Clematis (can't remember what variety they are:whistle:) growing in a huge 1/2 whisky barrel. I can remember specifically asking the seller if the 2 grew in a similar fashion, answer yes. Well they flaming don't. 1 is an extremely good doer and swamps the other...very annoying:).

              Nice DHR:)
I have Sieboldii .....one of the most beautiful I think :). Apparently slightly tender and usually I would not be concerned but the Beasts from the East brought unusually cold weather to us so I am hoping it has survived :)

I hope it does survive for you too.

We should be OK here in "The Tropic of Mersey." We've hills on three sides, the only open area is to the West. So the weather is never too cold.
