Two things i've not heard for a while there,

      Haversack & Embassy Coupons.

Saved enough embassy coupons before I smoked, just by picking them up off the street, to get an alarm clock, drill stand & a vice.

I used to smoke embassy, number 1 and regals, years ago. I've moved house a number of times since then. Just the other day I was tidying up and sorting through some boxes that never usually get unpacked and I found hundreds, if not thousands of 'focus points' cards that years ago I'd collected so that I could get all sorts of stuff for free.

All worthless now I guess. Still, I might one day list them on eBay. You never know, someone might want them.

You can't leave out Wales, Penny! I guarantee that if you go to Snowdonia first, you won't want to leave!

:heehee: That's different, Zig. No one is suggesting that Penny splits rocks in a quarry in Blaenau Ffestiniog during the depths of winter. That's strictly for budget Haven holidaymakers.

                Thats true,

Worth a visit to Blaenau, just to appreciate how grey the world can get.

Hi Jack. I Dropped Off Tons Of Coal Along The Way from Glasgow To Aberdeen And From Glasgow to Carlisle. We had lots of poor families living at the perimeter of the railway lines who could not afford to buy coal,This I did with great pleasure.I would Kick off from the footplate the biggest lumps I had in the Tender so when they hit the ground they would break into manageable lumps for the folk. :dbgrtmb:. come to think of it, this could be one of the reasons why Dr Beeching got involved in the slaughter of the railways ,Myself, and I don't know how many others did this,it was common practice.:WINK1:.

I remember Mum telling me of piles of coal that were whitewashed so that it was obvious if someone was nicking it.

She had her own tub of whitewash though:WINK1:

I was going to say earlier, that some of the coal was like boulders about a cubic foot, and boy did it burn

We as kids used to sit and watch the fire, alive and wonderful, some gas type flares/ possibly tar type always HOT

                      Once again thanks
