We went off to Mr T's Saturday morning for the last few bits and arrived at 8.10am to find the car park nearly full and it was bucketing it down as well so most of the spaces near the doors were already taken:eeew:

As we had been buying a lot of the stuff over the last few months only had to get some pears {our trees failed this year}satumers, lettuce, cucumber, milk bacon, pork pie etc so got it done realitively easy even though there were lots of people in the store even at that time of the morning we went through the self service tills quiet quickly and even had photos taken of us with our favourite checkout lady and we all had a :grphg: and wished each other a 'Happy Christmas'all in all it wasn't too bad

Drove into the large town eleven miles away in the afternoon to pick up my prezzie and although we had to park up on the roof due to the amount of cars and one of the car parks being closed as it is falling to bits didn't have any problems with long queues at the tills in the couple of shops we visited because we think the shortage of money in the economy and online shoppers meant that there was less people milling about unlike past years when there was more money about and you could garauntee{sp} getting squashed to death:snork:

Good Luck to anyone though that does have to go out today for food or last minute prezzies:snork:

Yesterday, I took my elderly neighbour to spend Christmas with a relative. Sadly the only way to get to the house is to travel along the same road upon which a Tesco superstore is situated. At 10.30 a.m., we turned into this road and queued for 20 minutes just to get past the Tesco entrance, a distance of half a mile at most! Having finally deposited said neighbour, about 40 minutes later I left the house, continued along the same road where the queue to get into the superstore from the opposite direction was, by then, almost a mile long :thud: Mind you, the end of that queue was only about 200 yards from the entrance to a Morrisons, where there were plenty of empty car parking spaces and people were happily going in and out with no queue!

But it does beg the question .... why?

The shops will be shut for ONE day. In the days before everyone had a fridge and freezer, there might have been a need to blitz the shops at the last minute (especially if Christmas Day was a Monday and the shops wouldn't have opened between Saturday and the following Wednesday), but now? By rights, considering the obscene amounts of food and alcohol some people have stashed away, the shops should be empty of customers until at least February but no - were I to go out Boxing Day - I can guarantee there will be people in the supermarkets, re-stocking with beer and sprouts (although of course, in the case of the latter, it's to get them on for next Christmas!)

And, I note from a TV ad, the 'Next' sale apparently starts at ' ... 6 a.m. Boxing Day' What the ....... :what:
