Same here Clara crowns, bridges, fillings, and like your son my 2 have no fillings in fact eldest had an extra tooth grow from the roof of her mouth which she had to have out, I could have had that :heehee:, we've always gone to this dentist and he is very good but he had a brand new fancy surgery built when he went private and we're paying for it, I have a gap which is hardly noticable said he could do me an implant only £2000 I said its ok quite attached to the gap thanks, hope your hubbies toothache gets sorted nothing worse.

I think I may be wrong about the BAN on Gelatine
Back in 1996 or so with the BSE outbreak, they removed access to bovine gelatine, (they removed my favourite offal dish Calves foot, still not back in Scotland)
Packets of Jelly, instead of cubes of jelly became boxes of Crystals
THUS as Jelly babies have now lost that jelly feel and more of a sugary crunch I summised that Gelatine was no longer used
Apparently it is used, and it is the substitute AGAR which gives the crunch rather than the smooth jelly feel

You can get them at Lidl if you get there in the morning.

As far as sarnies go, there is nothing that beats a bacon and cheese melt made with a proper crusty baguette.

Take a section of baguette the length of a bacon rasher. Cut it from the top, almost all the way through. Chuck in two or three grilled rashers of nice salty danish or English streaky, and some cheddar, and whack it under the grill until the cheddar melts. Simple yet divine.

When I was a kid my mum used to always get given these soft ginger biscuits, covered in icing or chocolate, they originate from Germany or Austria I think, they always appear in supermarkets around Christmas, but just lately none of them seem to taste like they used to, some simply lack that ginger taste when it says ginger on the packet????

As has been said earlier - 'nothing stays the same'....

In the space of one year my dentist has been Scuba diving in the Sechelles, got married, had a 'travelling' honeymoon (for 2 months) in Oslo, Geneva and Dubai amongst other places and bought a new 4x4 because ' ... the house my husband and I have just bought is right out in the sticks'. I wonder if I'm too old for a career change?

Most of the chestnuts we buy in supermarkets are foreign imports, which is why, when I take the dog for a walk, I takemore than one carrier bag, one for the 'pooper scooper' the others to collect chestnuts - they're not as big as the imported ones, but they taste much sweeter and best of all ..... they're free.

I was thinking just the same in the supermarket the other day...it would be great for the environment to stop importing stuff and use just local produce.
