saw this earlier, first thought, depends on the "type" of plastic, and design. is the chairs fake wicker plastic, are they the cheap plastic chairs? etc. I would use the Bleach cleansers with the abrasive particles in it and a sponge, just circular cleaning, and a good hose.

Thanks for that. I suppose they are 'cheap' ones, but some will be 20 years old! I'm going to arrange a cleaning 'contest'! There are 10 or 11 chairs.

Mr. Clean sponges are amazing for cleaning plastic. They are the ones advertised to use on walls or cooktops or shower door glass etc.

cheap is subjective, and the ones I am used to seeing that I call cheap, your's may or may not be those type. Cleaning contest is an idea.

Cheap is, indeed, subjective. Moreover, what might be expensive in money terms, might be cheap in quality!

I went down the second hand cast iron and wood route i paid £50 for two chairs bench seat and table and i managed to get a matching pair of seat ends £20 its not much hassle replacing the wood slats i work with wood,

Ive also made a seating area and will be making another, the cost of half decent garden furniture is through the roof and its not that good from what ive seen of it.

Strangely enough, one of our sons has recently 'made' slatted seats, mainly using used parts. They look very good.

Our plastic seats are conformable enough. If I covered them in winter - and cleaned them a bit more - they would be fine. It is the same with the plastic tables, I tend to start gardening on them!

In my gazebo, I have a black iron table with 4 chairs and red pillows on each seat. then there is a black iron couch and a black iron caste lounge---the later two from inlaws house when they passed and cleaned out and my husband got them. the later two have seating cushions etc. been toying with replacing the cushions, but it is expensive, thinking in the fall will find sales. so usually every other year its some black spray to cover any worn areas etc. My black iron table & 4 chairs have had since 1979 . I keep the cushions over the winter in the gazebo in heavy plastic bags to keep the winters wind off them, so less cleaning for me in the spring. this year some mice made their way in the plastic to develop nests etc. so have to look for some other hard container for the cushions come this winter. have some ideas. whatever will keep mice and dirt out.

It`s not a problem when I sit on it, and when I`m not I call it ''shabby chic'' which of course is in fashion - some people would pay a fortune for a set of six like this

Tetters my neighbour as these in green had them for years and she gave me one and I was glad of it mate until the garden was done to buy a new set.

I've brought quite a few sets of these new designs and the silver still goes slightly rusty outside in the winter covered up, I've cleaned them up and gave them away and the one set was sprayed black and the glass table and the neighbour had that off we...so last year after xmas we brought a set of four chairs and table in the new granite wicker black heavy duty plastic and it's great for cleaning £150 and then I brought a set of 2 chairs and a table £110...best buy yet.

My hubby as a right selection of sprays and does this candle holder for me mate every spring in silver and adds a touch of blue to make it look the antique look like you have ...it needs a needs a new side as it's rotting but only cost me £10 second hand :loll:
