All this talk of space stations makes me feel old. When I was a kid, the idea of a space station was restricted to the realm of sci fi fantasy. I remember dreaming about a day when it would be true and mankind would have a residence, even if only temporary, in space. Yet there it is, 17 years old now I think.

Tell you what though, what a work of engineering. If you had a 17 year old car you'd expect it to be half rotten and dropping to bits. Yet here's a machine that has to survive, and more importantly, protect its occupants from, the harshness of space, sat in orbit 250 miles above our heads, popping along at a steady 17250 mph. Not bad. Not bad at all.

I wish I could even get just a glimpse
Checked on the map today and it did not even pass over the UK ?
Crossed over and down over Africa well before the Azores ?

Just missed it by two seconds:gaah: We had been stopping all the way round on our walk hoping to catch sight of it,but as I had forgotten to wear my Indiglo watch didn't know what the time was until we got back home and saw that it was nearly 7pm.Rushed out into the front garden and Mr Kandy saw the last glimpse of it as it faded:snork:

Never mind though as we have seen it loads of times before and i expect we shall see it again at some point:biggrin:

Glad you got to see it Jenny:dbgrtmb:
