Wiseoldowl, have kept my beady eye opened as promised, and I think there is the first signs of growth. Although it could just be a spot on my glasses, it is that small. Fingers crossed. Cheers Barb.

Wiseoldowl, no more signs of anything on the rose, I fear it has had it. Am a bit worried about ,black spot on CLIMBER 3yrs old. Did manage to spray about 3 weeks ago, instructions say to spray if needed every 2 wks but not if it is windy. Well you can see my dilemma, what with the wind we have had over these past weeks, and I am due off on hols in about 10 days. I do pick them off and thought I had the remedy by really hard pruning, but no its back and somewhat with a vengence, what am I TO DO!!!!!.

Hi Barb Is there any chance of some photos,It would help If I could see how the Patient is looking:wink: Barb I would repot It It,I am assuming again that It is still In a container at least 18in Diameter and at least 18in deep,Now roses
In Pots just love "John Innes No 3" Thats what I use:) Its got a soil base. There needs to be plenty of Drainage In the bottom of the Pot ,then raise the Pot up about 2-3 inches above the ground say on some House Bricks and I would mix some slow release fertiliser in with the John Innes No 3 before planting the Rose and water well,It will probably need watering every other day,To give it every chance.:thumb::)
But If you really feel that It has Expired (I hate that word:dh:) You
    could always replace It:)

[align=left]Your 3 year old Climbing Rose ,Black spot You could try this nothing to lose :)
    Baking Soda

The first is household baking soda. Mix two tablespoons of baking soda into a gallon of water and add one squirt of detergent or soap to the mix. The soap acts as a spreader-sticker to help keep the baking soda on the leaf.

The mix should be sprayed onto the rose leaves â?? both top and bottom â?? to establish an alkaline leaf surface that will prevent the fungus from establishing itself.

This will have to be repeated after a rain as the rain will clean the leaves allowing the fungus a clean leaf to colonize. This mixture will last about a week in normal practice â?? the dew will wash it off and wind action will abrade it. But I am trying out different solutions, but It might take a few Months,But I am on the case:thumb::)

Wiseoldowl , thank you for your good advice, yes the rose in tub has gone, sad really ,I was looking forward to a nice yellow rose , I will replace it. Your suggestion for my other rose I will certainly try.
This rose is planted in garden not a pot. Apart from the black spot it is looking very well, and healthy, has put on a lot of new growth with plenty of buds,a couple just about to open.
Will try for a photo of it but not until June as I am off soon on hols. Will spray just before I go, and will keep fingers crossed, will leave instructions for son just to keep his eye on it.
Will be back before a another spray is needed. Once again thanks.
