    I think a lot of folk lost their Kerria japonica to 'leaf and twig blight' over the last decade, so a nice find. I used to use it in heavily shaded areas where it really stood out.

      @BobTG Yes we lost ours 3 years ago. It was stunning and bought a lovely colour to a dull area of the garden. We had it for some years so can't complain.

        Is that what was going on? I Iost a decent sized one a few years ago 'for no apparent reason'.
        I didn't mind really, it had taken over a big corner in a very small garden.

        Yeah, it's caused by a fungus (Blumeriella kerriae) which suddenly appeared. Kerria was always completely disease-free until then. I used to curse when I found the horizontal underground runners spreading, but would gladly have them back!
