I've sown a second lot without soaking just to compare results. The second lot were only sown last night and those which were soaked for 24hrs and sowed Sunday aren't showing yet. I'll report back if I get any results.

Well done Lynda , no soaking for me next year ! Thanks for the offer of plants but the two I have growing now will be fine . They quickly become a big plant , so you may need to find new homes for some of your 15 .

Well update needed , my Cobea have germinated , 4 have popped up there heads after 12 days on the prop :dbgrtmb: The first two things that showed must have been rogue seeds , which are now dispatched.

Update from me too. All of the unsoaked seeds have germinated with a no show from 3 of those which were soaked. The unsoaked seeds were pretty quick off the mark. It looks like there's no real value in soaking these seeds so if I grow them again I won't bother.

I now have 6 of the Cobea scandens white germinated out of 15 . That is more than I need . I only plan on planting one and giving the rest away . They grow very large , the purple one last year grew about 7 feet tall and spread 12 feet. Lots off very pretty flowers late summer , but its also a very good bold looking climber.
I think in some areas off the world (new Zealand ? )it is considered a pest as it can be invasive.

Mine are coming along nicely. They're making some of the other seedlings look tiny in comparison.

Fern last year one of mine became a monster before I could plant it out ! It was huge growing to over 3ft in its pot , before I planted it out late May.

They look like they could romp away! When you prick them out do you give them something to climb up?

How are everyone's Cobaes coming along? Mine are monsters! I haven't started hardening them off yet. I think I'll start this weekend weather permitting. I can't wait to see them climbing up the fence. :fingers crossed:

Mine are grabbing everything they can in the GH with their tendrils ! I will start hardening off next week. They really flower late summer and they are lovely. I am planting one of mine to fully cover a 6 foot wide x 7 foot tall fence panel . I am growing the Alba white version this year.
