Composting and sewing (not sowing)

    @BenCotto I'm curious about why you would add carpet pieces to covers for bins. Do the bins not have lids or ?

    Please fill me in on this as I've never seen this here.

    You could get yourself a leather speedy stitcher to sew it.

    Yes Canadian Lori, the ones we buy have had the lids
    but I've lost me thread on this one:what:

    Maybe it's a home made one :smile:

    A layer of carpet on top of the compost (under the lid) helps to keep the heat in. These days I use several layers of cardboard (flattened internet shopping boxes), ever since someone told me that even mostly-wool carpets leach microplastics. Maybe that's a good reason to encase the carpet in something.
