concrete to lawn!

    Hi Deano,

    I would suggest just keep going over it, getting as many stones and weed roots out as you can, and then, if you're just going to have it for a lawn, just leave it. It is far too cold at the moment to do anything grass related!

    The rain, snow and frost will break down the soil clumps nicely, letting it settle. You can then see what you've got in the spring and go from there!

    Grass seed needs at least 7 degrees Celsius in the soil for it to germinate (there are some species that go lower, but not many), and for that you're probably looking at the middle of March at least. Soil thermometer's aren't expensive and would save you wasting your money sowing too early!

    I would say that it does look a bit shady down the left hand side though ... be aware that even "shade tolerant" grass seed needs a couple of hours of sunshine a day in the summer, otherwise it will just thin gradually. In those areas, a shade-loving border will always do better than grass!

      Hi mate i wasnt going to do much now apart from tidying till the spring its to cold for me let alone grass seed lol!
