@shiney my glasses use to steam up until I realised they were slightly caught under my mask...just make sure yours are worn over your mask, I don't have problems anymore. :dbgrtmb:

Pete, can you please pop over to play the record on my neighbours (the ones who don't get a Christmas card)?

They have a lovely family bond with grandparents popping in daily, that must be great for the two kids. The Dad has mates over right now, I suppose that's fine as they are all young and immortal and since the pubs have closed, what else is there to do?

      GRRR...

First and foremost.. This is a brand new virus. Whose to blame for it or all the why's and wherefors. It here and it taking it's toll.

I have been confined to home by Amanda, my duaghter. She is diabled and has a passport to most of London's hospitals. In this area. She is so very much at risk. Sadly she has little or no immunity. Yet she loves me, her dear old dad. She struggles to keep me safe. No amount of words can say how I feel.

Me. So i'm an oldie. 80 yrs old. OK. I have medical probs. I wonder what the guidelines are. I'm 80. I have cancer, I am a longtime victim of colitis and IBS. I have been diagnosed with Aorta stenosis. Meaning I have a serious heart problem. Hey ho. I have glaucoma. So in all honesty. I am on the road to hell.

My GP and I often talk science and so perhaps we are friends, apart from that. As a GP.....I often wonder.

As I say. I am confined to home. So my larder/freezer is getting low. I shop at Tesco and Sainsburys. Each visit costs me +- £100. Now in my hour of need. Attempting to order on line. At least a four week slot.. Dear Lord and father of all mankind. Forgive our foolish ways etc. How do I convince my local store. I am what I am and not a greedy stockpiler?

Hi Mike, I'm an oldie, I've tried Tesco/Asda with no luck....I managed to get a Morrisons Food Box £35, quite good value and had very little trouble getting a slot.....Also managed to get a delivery Today (Sunday) for £60 worth from Iceland, they ask are you Pensionable age.
As with all supermarkets there are items not available, but try these two Mike. Good luck.

I heard that some Wholesalers, having lost their restaurant etc. deliveries, were turning their hand to veg/food boxes. They have source for produce, and transport to deliver ... I don't know how new Customers get to find out about them though ...

First job for Herr Starmer, run down and knock government response

I especially like the bit saying we should have a vaccine programme for the virus. You know, the one there is no vaccine for...

yeah, Labour had something along those lines in last manifesto. "Thanks Pharma companies for all the work you have done, and all the money you have ploughed in, we're going to help ourselves now"

I can't see a national vaccine program being well received by Pharma. But I detest the fat-cat component to Big Pharma. And I am mindful that all the original Plant Breeding Institute group of government sites did fantastic, ground breaking, good work, but typical of such things (taking just one example) we invented all the Apple Rootstocks used today, and then gave them to the whole world royalty free, thereby allowing e.g. the poor tasting French Golden Delicious to destroy our fantastically flavourful Cox's Apple Industry and also writing off all the cost of the R&D.

PBI was post-war ... different constraints. I think Industry would do better in current climate, with Government steering them in the right direction (enforced collaboration; grants ir they need them; getting rid of board room director contracts that reward failure; and actually putting some proper effort into enforcing tax for skivers - the likes of Amazon and Starbucks working around tax systems)

                  Discuss :)

It's word of mouth down here (wrong phrase not 'mouth' should be 'WhatsApp').

About to give one a try recommended by daughter-in-law's family - they have used one to get deliveries of fruit and veg and meats. Prices seem good.

Dear @Mike Allen , It's so good to hear from you. I have been so worried, I've been clicking on your profile page daily to see if I've missed your posts.

It's so very hard for people at the moment especially for those like yourself and my Dad.
If our sons lived near you I would get them to look you up...at a distance of course:blue thumb:, and offer you some help. Sadly as you are aware travel in London is highly restricted and movement is vigorously checked on. Even though they still do their daily running you are too far away, sadly.

This might be useful to you I hope.
                            Take care xxx

Amazon delivery costs are now nonsense, free, 25p or £5.95 all for delivery by the same day from a marketplace seller on Amazon (or buy from/fulfilled by Amazon, pay for Prime next day delivery and you'll get it in 4 weeks).

Hello this is not a criticism but a genuine question Woo has thought about since the start of all this,I do stick rigidly to the rules and have been at home for 4 weeks, been out once to get shopping:old:

I have a question why do we have to be 2 meters apart from another person if the virus can only be spread by a cough or a sneeze /personal contact I can understand,I yet to see or hear anyone do either or is it just in case:scratch:

                                Thank you:smile:
