I have a different view (actually its the "party line" view). The virus is very contagious, spreading like the proverbial wildfire. So I guess it got a lucky mutation break that made it efficient. But also seems to me that people are spreading it rather than being ill in bed, where ergo :) they wouldn't be able to spread it as effectively. So I think likely both that people have mild symptoms, don't realise, and Super-Spread and also that people are infectious before (or after?) having symptoms.

The other thing (which as I understand it is "new" or "rare") is the viral overload aspect, which must be a worry for health workers. The more you are subjected to the worse / quicker the onset. I think that does make a case for 2M separation (why do we need new words like "social distancing"? I've got a long list of those, WTF is "Reaching out" to someone? Well I know what that is, an outstretched arm to touch them ... certainly not going to be able to do that by EMail, that is just plain old "contacting them" ... touch/contact I suppose someone illiterate has muddled those up and the media at large have blithely followed suit. I remember my parents getting grumpy when they got old too ...)

So my thinking is that the new advice to wear a mask, even a cloth one, must help reduce amount of viral material that gets through, even if not all of it, and that gives the body a chance to fight off the smaller viral-load

Similar to my Father (Lung cancer / heart failure), His death certificate had both Primary and Secondary causes otherwise I doubt the Stats for Cancer would have any figures!

But no argument from me that the published stats are not much help. Loads of people self-isolating not in the stats ... one of our employees got it; proper temperature/flu-like for a day, soar throat the next, he felt able to work the next (but I told him he was more use to me fully recovered and he took another couple of days off). I wouldn't call that mild, but it wasn't any worse that other stuff we catch, but he most certainly is NOT in any Stats ...

However, if the rate of testing and accounting for deaths remains the same (e.g. "Only get tested if you are taken to hospital") then the Method is consistent, and that ought to help with defining "increasing/decreasing/stopped", even if of no use for "what's my risk" to general population

One upside, given that it seems that respiratory complications are the danger, minimal flights and much reduced fossil fuel vehicles has dramatically reduced the pollution in cities :)

I have a friend in Aylesbury who's local pub told the locals to leave out a glass and he'd go round filling them up from the beer barrel :) Some people have all the luck lol

My Father in Law's pub (next door ... I'm sure that wasn't a house-choice-purchase-decision ... oh no ... ) converted to Delivery (Beer and a Meal) when they were told to close, which greatly pleased my FiL :) but within short order they couldn't get supplies any more :(

I have nothing against the oldest profession in the world, but imagine the spread of virus? In saying that, could be where a lot is coming from.

                  Slight change of subject.
                  I'm watching TV again :wallbanging:
I'm finding all these guests appearing on news programmes via video a bit waring.
I never realized communications were so poor, half the time you can only catch the odd word, and if it starts out alright it breaks up after a while.

Wife and I have been social distancing for decades ... Oops!

We have that problem a bit with troops now working from home. Anyone at the end of the line has lousy COMMs, and bandwidth overload with all the world chatting on Zoom, and watching Netflix, makes it worse.

I'm surprised that the TV outfits don't do it differently, in order to get quality audio-video. For anything pre-recorded they could do online, as per normal so everyone is speaking / seeing each other in real-time, but also record a high quality version locally, upload that after-the fact, and then use that for the broadcast. Might mean they would have to do pre-record rather than do it live, but I can't see that would matter. As far as all the participants were concerned it would be "live" at the time of recording.

We haven't had to shop for over 3 weeks now but as my Dad had a delivery coming on Wednesday my brother has added his and I have added a few of our bits that are running low. So we are all sorted now.:dbgrtmb:

                      Tweet from Leicestershire police:

"Just stopped a car doing 110mph on the M1 north. The purpose of the journey from Nottingham? To buy bread in London because it was £1 cheaper. He also had his 2 young children in the car! Reported to court."

                      I have nothing to say.

Police around here announced on saturday that all the cars parked around the locked gates of the parks etc would get tickets on Sunday... don;t think anyone got a ticket though and it certainly didn't stop the cars parking :(
